“After years of research we chose a Masterpiece Performance caravan. We purchased our van from the ABBA Caravans team in Rockingham, WA.
The ABBA team have been fantastic to deal with over the past 2 years, always ready to answer any questions we may have had. Being caravan novices ‘ after sales service’ was of paramount importance to us. In fact, the whole Masterpiece Team have been very supportive and always available to help if required.
Our van, a semi-off road, never missed a beat in its 30,743 km journey around Australia. Our journey took 13 months and even though we are back in WA we continue to live full time in our much loved van whilst our house is rented out.
Our recent 46,154 km journey (we did some day trips without the van) has seen us only scratch the surface of this great country. We left WA and travelled across the Nullarbor to SA where we covered the two peninsulas and the Adelaide region, having met a few MP owners along the way before crossing into Victoria. We covered much of Victoria both coastal and regional areas.
Whilst in Melbourne, we visited the Masterpiece factory where we spoke to the owner Remon and his team and had a tour of the factory and also the nearby factory where the chassis are made.
During our travels in regional Victoria, we were contacted by a fellow MP family member, who invited us to visit and spend some time. We met these strangers to us at the time and left them as ‘life -long friends’. Our next stop was Deniliquin where we spend 4 days with about 100 MP family members in 50 vans, including Remon, Bobbi, Ryan and their families. A great time was had by all.
We then crossed into the ACT and were very impressed with Canberra and surrounds. NSW was next and we travelled up the coast to Bateman Bay, before heading west. In Dubbo we caught up with a wonderful MP couple we had met at Deniliquin. Visiting the regional areas of NSW was amazing and heartbreaking at the same time, due to the obvious impacts of the 4 year drought. We returned to Bateman Bay and continued up the coast during the summer period.
We crossed into Queensland via Tweed Heads and again spent time on the coast before heading west to Longreach with many great sights along the way. When we reached the Sunshine Coast we were contacted by another MP family member. We were privileged to spend time with this lovely couple before continuing our journey north. Our most further point North was Cooktown, FNQ.
Then we crossed through Qld via Mt Isa and headed to Alice Springs in the NT. As we had planned to be back in WA by Christmas, and the weather was changing, we decided to leave Darwin and the rest of the NT for our next trip. We turned left at Three Ways and headed to Uluru. Visiting Uluru and the Olgas is without doubt one of the highlights of our trip and should not be missed !
After much deliberation, we made the decision to return to WA via the Great Central Highway, most of which is unsealed and corrugated! This was a 1,100km trip and while there is not much scenery, it was most notable that there was no ‘road kill’ throughout the whole journey. The van performed extremely well probably better than we did ?. This road is expected to be fully sealed by 2020.
On our return to WA, ABBA serviced our van and it was great to see the Team again.
We will remain in WA for a while before we head north and across to the NT for the next part of our journey of this great country in our MP van.
We were amazed at times that after posting some questions on the Masterpiece Owners Facebook page to get input from other owners, that we were contacted personally by the owner Remon who assisted with our inquiries. We have never heard of that type of personalised serviced from any other caravan manufacturer.
There are many great caravans on the market today but to us, the most important factor when buying our new van was the after sales service and Masterpiece have far exceeded all of our expectations. We love our van and the only way we will change it is when we win the lotto. We will upgrade to the Masterpiece Optimum.”
